2015 Syrah: Rhone varietal, locally sourced in the Shenandoah Valley, Syrah is known for one of the darkest, fullbodied red wines in the world. Flavor profile includes berries, currants, and even chocolate, with pepper on the finish. Pairs well with intense flavors such as slow-roasted barbecue pork. Pairings can be spiced with pepper and cumin in meat dishes, or with plum sauce in Asian dishes which bring out the fruitiness of the wine.
This Estate Grown medium bodied wine is jammy, with dried plum and cherry aromas and a round mouth feel. Strong notes of raspberry, ripe blackberries, roasted coffee bean, pepper and spice. Pairs well with tomato based dishes such as spaghetti bolognese, veal parmigiana, chicken cacciatore, and pizza (especially with crumbled sausage). Also quite nice with earthy vegetables like mushrooms, onions, capers, and eggplant. For a nice cheese pairing, pick dry and firm cheeses like pecorino and Parmigiano-Reggiano.
Locally sourced grapes. Elsewhere in the world, this varietal is known as Durif. This grape is often confused with Syrah (French), or Shiraz (Australian), but it is an entirely different varietal. This is a big, inky wine, with a deep color and rich texture. Its flavor profile leans toward blackberries, blueberries, spice and pepper. Pairs well with elegant grilled meats such as beef or pork tenderloin, or lamb, but also pairs will a simple, charcoal-grilled cheeseburger.
This wine has a beautiful dark color with notes of spices and pepper and jammy red berries. Medium tannins provide structure to balance the fruit with good aciditywhich offers a certain freshness. A great food-pairing wine, especially with grilled or barbequed meats. The sweetness and spice in the wine pair well with the carmelized smoky notes of the meat. Classic pairings include leg of lamb and barbeques pork ribs.
A Spanish grape also grown in Portugal; our grapes were sourced from Clarksburg, Ca. Beautiful ruby red color, with butterscotch notes on the nose. Bright red cherry fruit on the palate, with dried fig leather, tobacco, vanilla and clay. Pairs well with red meat and ham.
